Course Description
Each year, 1.8 million workers in the United States report musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and these numbers continue to increase. Nearly 650,000 of these MSDs cause employees to miss one or more workdays, costing workers lost wages and employers between $20 billion in workers’ compensation. When you consider these statistics you can see why we need to take ergonomics seriously. This course explores common causes of MSDs and how ergonomics can be used to prevent these injuries. Topics covered include, musculoskeletal disorders and ergonomics, common MSDs and the parts of the body they affect, risk factors and work activities that can lead to MSDs, controls and work practices to reduce or eliminate the risk of injury, and core elements of an ergonomics program.
